Guest: Rajendra Banjade, Ph.D . Rajendra Banjade has been working in a managerial role in data science at Audible (Amazon company) for more than three years and is based in New Jersey. His focus is on Natural Language Processing (NLP), Machine Learning (ML), and data science in general, and his work at Audible includes supporting business decisions and improving customer experience by analyzing a vast amount of contents, such as texts from books and customer activities and building predictive models. Rajendra received his MS & Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Memphis, Tennessee. During his graduate study, he did research on NLP with the target application of dialog-based tutoring systems where students learn from the computer (intelligent) tutor through natural language interactions. Rajendra did a bachelor's in computer engineering from IOE, Pulchowk Campus, and before joining the graduate course, he worked as a software engineer at US-based healthcare data analytics and software company called COTIVITI Nepal (formerly known as Verisk, Versand, D2HawkeyeServices). He likes to play with his daughter in his free time and he has also developed some interest in writing. He grew up in a village in Arghakhanchi and aims to help some underprivileged students in his place to get technical education. About Guest: ------ Bhawana grew up in the Terai region of Nepal noticing the gender-based differences within her community and the impact of systemic gender barriers on girls like her. Thus at the age of 18, she began her career as a journalist in pursuit of social change but switched careers in 2013 to spend three years as a Teach for Nepal fellow in a community school in Nepal. Rajendra Adhikari, Ph.D. was born and raised in the staff quarters of the National Electricity Authority(NEA) of the Devighat Hydropower plant in Nuwakot, Nepal. He often visited the hydropower plant location during his childhood with his father, who used to repair electric motors and machines. Having been introduced to the power generating mechanisms early on, he pursued a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering at the Institute of Engineering (IOE) Pulchowk Nepal and earned a graduate degree and a Ph.D. from Virginia Tech University, USA focusing on an algorithmic approach to control demand response of residential Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning(HVAC) systems. Currently, he works as a researcher and software engineer for the Residential Buildings Research Group at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory(NREL). His works involve building innovative home-controlling software technologies. 


Rajendra loves learning about new technologies and building new software for fun. He enjoys playing Age of Empires(AOE2.
