Anuradha Koirala (Social Activist) A hero is someone who rises above his or her fears and limitations to achieve something extraordinary. The name "Anuradha Koirala" symbolizes charity, humility and empathy, a true hero who has been exhibiting motivation and resilience to help others, all while remaining a humble and compassionate person. Anuradha Koirala (Social Activist) who is also lovingly called Dijju all over the world. She is none-other than a Superhero whose contributions and remarkable actions have inspired every one of us to walk on her pathways. She has earned respect and recognition for the courage she has demonstrated in fighting against human traffickers, her legacy of rescuing girls from red-light districts and her relentless work in preventing girls from being trafficked across the India-Nepal border. She founded Maiti Nepal in 1993. She was appointed as the first Governor of Bagmati Pradesh from 17 January 2018 to 3 November 2019 by Government of Nepal. She has been awarded 38 national and international awards in recognition of her courageous acts and achievements furthering the cause of children’s and women’s rights. Some of the national and international awards include; Best Social Worker of the Year Award (Nepal) in 1998, Prabal Gorkha Darshini Babu Medal (Nepal) in 1999, Trishaktipatta Award in 2002, the Courage of Conscience Award from The Peace Abbey Foundation in 2006, German UNIFEM Prize in 2007, Queen Sofia Silver Medal Award in 2007, Mother Teresa Award in 2014, and G.O.D Award in 2018. She won the CNN Hero of the Year award in 2010. She was also honoured with Acharya Tulsi Kartritva Puraskar by Akhil Bhartiya Terapanth Mahila Mandal in 2014.
